Barry Flynn from Monaghan Rotary Club making the presentation to
the winner of the Monaghan Rotary Club Youth Leadership competition Joanne Wylie.
Also in the photo is Mr Johnston Reid.
Candidates from the secondary schools in Monaghan took part in the interviews for the Rotary Youth Leader. Joanne then represented the Monaghan Club in the Regional Finals where she won 1st place.
Joanne participated in a week long Leadership Development Programme, where she spent 3 days in Belfast and Dublin before setting off for the European Parliment in Strasbourg to play a part in the Euroscola Programme in March 2011.
She joined 600 other students from most counteries across the European Union.

on Friday the 1st May 2009.

The Mongol Rally Car at Monaghan Collegiate School on friday 15th May, after a few signatures!! For a donation of €1, each student got to sign the car. Money raised was for orphans in Africa and Mongolia.

Students from St. Macarten’s College and Monaghan Collegiate School have been involved in a Peace III project over the last few months in which they have been researching people from Co.Monaghan who served in World War One.
We researched soldiers from both Protestant and Catholic traditions who fought and died in the Great War.
Twenty students and four teachers visited Belgium in late March and experienced a day as a soldier, visited battlefields, trenches, dugouts, wargraves and museums.

Key Programme

The key programme combines training with outdoor activities for students aged 14-16. Twelve transition year students are involved in this project--

This is just one of the activities participated in during the year.
04/09/09 Visit to the school by the Bulgarian Ambassador and members of the Monaghan Rotary Club. The official party were entertained by the students in music and song before the official welcome took place.
Some activities in the Hme Economics Room
Students from Monaghan Collegiate School & St. Macartan’s College have come together under the Peace 111, World War 1 Project. Pupils will analyse the role of Monaghan people from both sides of the community during the Great War. Weeks of research will conclude with a visit to some of the battle sites where men from this country fought and lost their lives.

Transition Year pupils are currently participating in a ‘Youth Link Cross Border Project’
As part of the project pupils had the opportunity to attend a ‘live in’ workshop at Lisnaskee Share Centre last September. Staff and pupils alike enjoyed the experience and the programme is showing promising and exciting results for pupils. More details will follow later in the term.
