International Day at Monaghan Collegiate School
An international day was held on Monday,16th March, at Monaghan Collegaite school. The event was organised by Transition year geography students with the assistance of their teacher Miss Wright. Over the last few years an increasing number of international students have been attending the school. To allow these students a chance to promote their country, they wre given the opportunity to have a display. Each stand portrayed their country through maps, pictures, art, food and music. Fifteen countries took part: America,Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, Ireland, Lithuania, New Zealand, Nigeria, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Scotland, South Africa, Tenerife and Thialand
The event was opened by Mr Seymour Crawford T.D. The students were entertained by fellow students singing and playing various musical instruments. The pupils, staff and guests finished off the afternoon with a Ceili, led by guest local Irish dancer Mrs Paula Mc Corry, which set the mood for St Patricks day. Congratulations to transition year for organising such a wonderful inter-cultural event
