THE PHYSICAL EDUCATION PROGRAMME
The purpose of Physical Education is to provide a planned and rich experience in Physical Activity.
Sports Facilities:
Sports facilities include a soccer pitch, tennis courts, outdoor basketball court, multi purpose ard area, table tennis area and sports hall.
The P.E. Curriculum Years 1 –3
J.C.P.E Areas of Studies
1) Invasion games: Soccer,Basketball, Olympic Handball, Unihoc & Rugby.
2) Net games: Badminton, Tabletennis & Volleyball
3) Athletics,
4)Adventure Activities,
5)Aquatics
6)Dance
7) Health Related Activities.
The Senior Physical Education Curriculum
The policy of the School is to allow the pupils become more responsible for their own learning. Pupils choose the activities they wish to participate in throughout the year.
The Transition Year PE module includes:
Golf, Horse riding, Swimming, Fitness Training, Self Defenceand Dance.
Transition year pupils also go on Outdoor Pursuit Trips.
Extra –Curricular P.E. Activities
Extra-curricular P.E. Activities are an integral part of School Life.
They are undertaken at three levels to offer opportunity to all pupils.
Purely recreational activities are available at lunchtime to allow pupils to engage in informal activities on a regular basis with friends.
Inter-year competitions are held throughout the year to enable a wide range of pupils to engage in representative competition. There are table tennis, soccer, basketball,badminton and tennis tournaments held each year.
There are a number of school sports teams which compete in Regional Inter- School competitions and are regularly successfully at Regional & National Level:
Basketball (girls), Horse Riding (boys & girls), Rugby (boys), Soccer (boys and girls) and Table Tennis (boys and girls)

BASKETBALL CHAMPIONS
All Ireland Bronze medal Winners and Ulster Schools Champions “C” Division 2007/2008, MCS Basketball Teams have been “B” and “C” Ulster champions Seven times over the last 9 years and All Ireland runners up on 2 Occasions
