Thank you for visiting the Monaghan Collegiate School website, we hope that it gives you a flavour of the school community. We are a relatively small rural school with a long history and a rich tradition, situated on the edge of Monaghan town. Our size and beautiful setting makes it easy to foster good relationships within school, with a strong sense of calm community clearly evident.

Schools are charged with promoting the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of pupils and preparing them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life. A daunting requirement whatever way you view it, but it is by no means a one man mission, it is a team effort and the team in Monaghan is totally dedicated to providing a sound education for all our students. We expect high standards, demand good discipline and seek to stretch everyone to their full potential, and providing the necessary support to do so.

As Principal I count it a privilege to lead the school, I don’t have a magic formula for all of society’s ills but I am deeply rooted in a tradition of fairness, hard work and openness, I am available to discuss any concerns that students or parents may have, or to offer advice if required. Ultimately young people won’t care how much we know until they know how much we care.

I am proud of this school, rooted in the community with its distinctive Protestant ethos, welcoming all, and working together so that we may flourish as individuals.
