Variety Concert Update Spring 2020

Due to the closure of all Schools, Theatres and activies in March 2020 due to the Covid-19 Virus, it is with deep regret that the Parents Association have to postpone their forthcoming Variety Concert scheduled for the 27th March.  We appreciate all of you who have purchased tickets and request you retain your ticket and we will update you when school re-opens.  In the meantime we would like to sincerely thank all those who have rehearsed and prepared entertainment for the night. We greatly appreciate your efforts.



A lively Parents’ Association meets regularly for social events, fund raising and to provide information for new parents.

Parents Association AGM for 2019 will be held on Monday 14th October at 8 pm in the Study Hall. Parents & Guardians are welcome. Guest Speaker Shane Moran Counselling Psychologist
The theme of the talk is ‘Wellbeing’. Light refreshments will be served.

Next Event
A very successful and enjoyable Fundraising Dance was held on 1st March 2019 with music by Gary Fitzpatrick at the Four Seasons Hotel Monaghan. Proceeds in aid of purchase of replacement Touchscreen LED Boards came to €6,139 approx. The Parents’ Association would like to thank all who supported the event.

Sale of Work
Thanks to all those who participated and contributed in any way to the Sale of Work, in St Patricks Hall, Monaghan Town on Friday 7th December 2018. Despite the wind & rain there was a great turnout and €4,200 approx was raised.

New development

The Committee have embarked on a ‘doodle’ survey page to enlist topic suggestions for their speaker(s)for the 2018/19 AGM and meetings. If you would like to complete the survey and haven’t received the link contact the school office on 047 82060.

Email address request

The Committee would also like to encourage parents to provide the school office with an email address so that information can be sent using email if desired. All details would only be accessible to the School Administrator and would not be available for sharing to other parties.


Examples of recent fund raising events are: Gary Fitzpatrick Music night, Stonewall Folk and Function Band Concert, Richie Remo Concert and dance, Collegiate School Walk, Recipe Book, 10 km Run, Cookery & Flower Arranging Demonstration. 


The Chairperson is Dr. Noel McKenna.  The Committee meet on a monthly basis and Mr. Johnston Reid, Principal & Mr.Martin Killoran, Deputy Principal are ex-officio members.

Mrs. Sheila McElwaine is Hon. Treasurer with the assistance of Mrs. Annamarie Woods, Hon. Secretary is Mr. Alan Mackarel. Committee members are: Doreen Brown, Vanessa Donaldson, Edmund Graham, Mark Gillanders, Richard Irwin, Ian Keating, Gary McAdoo, Wendy McChesney, Heather Moore, Garry Nicholl, Edna Taylor & Heather Wilson.

Recent AGM Speakers

Parents Association AGM was held on 15th October 2018 at 8 pm in the Sports Hall. Guest Speaker Mr. Martin McVicar, Managing Director of Combi-lift.

An Garda Siochana were the guest speakers for the Autumn 2017 AGM and they gave an excellent talk on internet safety and security.

The AGM Spearker on Tuesday 4th October 2016 was motivational guest speaker Mr. Shane Martin.

The Association is working on it’s next major fundraiser. Details on funds raised are available through the School Office.

Annual Sale of Work

Parents and families always assist at the annual sale of work and a great day is had by all.

Next Activity

Plans are currently afoot for an early Autumn activity possibly a sponsored walk.

National Association of COMPASS

The Committee would like parents/guardians to note that COMPASS, the National Association of Minority Religions and Protestant Parents Association, associated with the National Parents Council, with whom we are affiliated with, will hold their annual AGM in May.
